The Panthers are adopting a cautious approach for their first preseason game, opting to rest a majority of starters for Thursday night's match against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

With two more preseason games remaining, few uncertainties at many starting positions, including quarterback, and a joint practice scheduled next week with the New York Jets, key players such as Bryce Young and Diontae Johnson will not participate. Additionally, none of the starting offensive line members and three running backs will be active for the game.

Rookie first-round receiver Xavier Legette will also miss this game after leaving practice early on Sunday due to what was described as a lower leg injury. Dave Canales announced on Monday that test results revealed no structural damage; however, Legette will still be held out against the Patriots.
