The Panthers exercised their priority on the waiver wire, claiming six players from other teams on Wednesday. This move comes a day after finalizing their initial 53-man roster.

The team acquired former Buccaneers cornerback Keenan Isaac, former Jets cornerback Shemar Bartholomew, former Washington cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, former Seahawks outside linebacker Jamie Sheriff, former Seahawks linebacker Jon Rhattigan, and former 49ers guard Jarrett Kingston.

Bringing in three new cornerbacks indicates a focus on the position following last week's trade for veteran Mike Jackson. In addition to starter Jaycee Horn, the Panthers also have veteran nickel Troy Hill and fifth-round rookie Chau Smith-Wade.

Isaac, 24, appeared in two games for the Buccaneers last season as a special teamer and recorded an interception in the preseason against the Bengals. Bartholomew is a 24-year-old undrafted rookie from Georgia Southern who participated in a joint workout during training camp. Castro-Fields, 25, was a sixth-round pick by the 49ers out of Penn State and has played ten games for Washington with one start.

Sheriff offers another young pass-rushing option. The undrafted player from South Alabama had 3.0 sacks in three preseason games after joining Seattle's rookie minicamp as a tryout player. Rhattigan brings experience with 36 games played for Seattle; he is familiar with special teams coordinator Tracy Smith. Kingston, 24, was drafted in the sixth round out of Southern Cal and has started at both guard and tackle positions.

To accommodate these additions to the roster, wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette, guard Cade Mays, cornerback D'Shawn Jamison, defensive tackle Jayden Peevy, along with undrafted rookies Jalen Coker and Demani Richardson were waived.
