Charlotte FC experienced a 2-0 defeat against Orlando City on September 19, 2024. The match began with Charlotte getting their first shot on target within the first minute through Kerwin Vargas, although it posed no real threat.

Orlando responded quickly, creating a chance in the 4th minute when Wilder Cartagena's strike was saved by Charlotte goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina. As the game progressed, Orlando controlled possession and built momentum but struggled to find clear scoring opportunities.

In the 19th minute, Facundo Torres missed an open header for Orlando. Charlotte managed another shot in the 30th minute when Patrick Agyemang's attempt went straight to the keeper. Brandt Bronico received a yellow card in the 36th minute for a late tackle.

Despite early pressure from Orlando, Charlotte managed to impose their game towards the end of the first half. However, Orlando broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute with Torres netting his fourth goal in three matches off a pass from Martín Ojeda.

Torres nearly scored again in the 65th minute, but Kahlina made a save and Tim Ream blocked the follow-up attempt. In search of an equalizer, Dean Smith substituted multiple players around the 72nd minute mark.

Charlotte had opportunities from set pieces but failed to capitalize. In stoppage time, Pedro Gallese's goal kick led to Luis Muriel setting up Duncan McGuire for Orlando’s second goal, securing their victory.

This loss marks Charlotte’s third consecutive defeat this season. They will face New England Revolution at Bank of America Stadium this Saturday as they enter the final stretch of regular-season matches.
