The series between Charlotte and Cincinnati stands evenly at 2-2-2. In their last encounter, Charlotte emerged victorious with a 3-1 win in Cincinnati, an important triumph following a defeat to Miami.

Charlotte FC aims to recover from a loss against Miami, where chance creation proved challenging. "There is no better environment to return to than The Fortress," states the club, emphasizing the need for unity as Dean often says: "togetherness."

Wilfried Zaha has been a frequent target for fouls, being tied for third in MLS in fouls suffered. To counteract this strategy from opponents, Charlotte must play faster and exploit the spaces created by Zaha's presence.

On the opposing side, Kevin Denkey of Cincinnati poses a significant threat with two goals in three matches. Charlotte's defensive strategy will focus on containing Denkey’s movements to avoid lapses that led to goals against Miami.

Cincinnati is viewed as an Eastern Conference favorite despite losing Lucho Acosta but compensating with Evander and Kevin Denkey. Captain Westwood emphasizes the challenge: "If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best."

The upcoming match at The Fortress marks Charlotte's first home game of the season at night and features their new kit. The atmosphere promises energy for what is described as a battle for Queen City bragging rights.
