The Carolina Panthers are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in a matchup that will test their run game against one of the top defenses in the league. The Panthers, with a record of 3-7, are coming off two consecutive wins, while the Chiefs stand at 9-1 after experiencing their first loss of the season.

Running back Chuba Hubbard expressed confidence despite the challenge ahead, stating, "They do everything it seems right at times. But we're a hungry team as well. Obviously, great opponent, but challenge accepted."

The Chiefs' defense ranks third in rushing defense, allowing only 85.3 yards per game. Chris Jones leads their defensive efforts with five tackles for loss and three sacks. Offensive guard Robert Hunt emphasized the importance of being aware of Jones on the field: "We got to know where 95 is, obviously."

Hubbard ranks fourth in league rushing and has been pivotal for the Panthers' offense. Offensive coordinator Brad Idzik highlighted Hubbard's impact: "The run game is a huge piece of our culture... you see the offensive line traveling downfield and making big blocks and springing our running backs free."

Rookie Jonathon Brooks will make his NFL debut this Sunday after recovering from an ACL injury over a year ago. However, head coach Dave Canales confirmed that Hubbard remains the primary back.

On defense, the Panthers face quarterback Patrick Mahomes without employing a spy strategy. Instead, they focus on maintaining discipline and integrity in their rushing lanes. Outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney noted: "I think it's more of a rushing lane integrity than necessarily spy on him."

The Panthers' run defense faces scrutiny as they rank last in the league, conceding 160.1 yards per game on average. With Isiah Pacheco sidelined due to injury, Kareem Hunt will lead Kansas City's ground attack.

Quarterback Bryce Young will have wide receiver Adam Thielen back from injury for Sunday's game. Offensive coordinator Canales remarked on Thielen's return: "He just opens up some things for us third-down wise and in the red zone."

Kicker Eddy Piñeiro is expected to play despite missing practice recently. Piñeiro has been consistent this season with a 12-13 record on field goals.

In contrast, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker remains out following knee surgery, leaving rookie Spencer Shrader to fill his role.
