Six Atrium Health hospitals in North Carolina have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as "high performing" in the latest "Best Hospitals for Maternity Care" rankings. These hospitals are part of the 24 Advocate Health hospitals included in the list. Atrium Health is affiliated with Charlotte-based Advocate Health.

The recognized Atrium Health facilities include Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte, Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle, Atrium Health Union in Monroe, Atrium Health Union West in Matthews, and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

"This recognition underscores our unwavering dedication to providing exceptional maternity care," said Dr. Scott Rissmiller, executive vice president and chief physician executive for Advocate Health. He emphasized their commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care.

The U.S. News ranking methodology focuses on objective quality measures such as cesarean section rates, unexpected newborn complications, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, birthing-friendly practices, and reporting on racial/ethnic disparities.

“We are delighted to have six hospitals on U.S. News & World Report’s list of ‘Best Maternity Hospitals’,” stated Meghan Clithero, vice president of the women's service line at Atrium Health. She praised their women’s care teams for their dedication to patient safety and health equity.

Additionally, four North Carolina hospitals were named “Maternity Care Access Hospitals,” acknowledging their role in providing quality care where it might otherwise be lacking: Atrium Health Cleveland, Atrium Health Stanly, Atrium Health Union, and Atrium Health Union West.

Atrium Health's women's care services include comprehensive maternity support along with fertility and high-risk pregnancy specialists. Their centers consistently meet national safety and expertise standards.

Earlier this year, Advocate Health received eight “Top 50” rankings from U.S. News & World Report along with 32 “High Performing” specialties across its hospitals. The Levine Children’s Hospital was also acknowledged as one of the "Best Children’s Hospitals," achieving top pediatric specialty rankings.

Atrium Health Pineville was specifically highlighted during Black Maternal Health Week for its outcomes related to cesarean sections and newborn complications among Black patients.
